The weather being slightly warmer ½ way down out of the alps, we were able to have nice long warm showers – hair washing and shaving off Dave’s mountain man beard were also on the agenda.
Having taken care of these things it was back on the road again towards the coast. Tom and Bec having recently visited the French Riviera gave us the tip to try for accommodation in Antibes, ½ way between Cannes and Nice.
We checked into Camping Le Rossignal, and decided to take a drive into Cannes. The plan was to grab some lunch supplies on the way, however it was Sunday which means all supermarkets are closed which is a MASSIVE pain. Not knowing this we asked Jim to navigate to one, and she proceeded to take us on a merry tour around some very narrow residential streets. Once we had decided it was a lost cause, we headed to the main part of Cannes, found a park and went walking along the port waterfront.
There was a market on selling antiques, second hand books and records. Amongst this we found a sandwich place to refuel then headed out to the docks to check out the massive boats! One was docking that seemed to have an all Aussie crew – we thought someone famous might be aboard seeing everyone was gathered around, but they must have just been admiring the parking skills.
A little further up all of Dave’s dreams were realised when he didn’t know whether to have aphoto with a Porsche, Ferrari, Lamborghini... but then he found a Bugatti Veyron and he was sold. They mainly all had UAE plates on them which explains a lot.
Ok... thats a Bugatti Veyron - 1000 000pounds worth |
Oh but how can I choose between my Bugatti and my Ferrari - life is so tough when you have to make these large important decisions. I'm going to go lay down to think about it all. |
After fishing Dave out of a puddle of drool we continued along the waterfront looking at the crowded beaches (mostly public and the private ones you pay about 20€ to have a sunbed and umbrella.
Typical packed French public beach - please note here that there is some kind of "sand like subtance" covering the beach |
Random beachfront decorations in Cannes included lollies of different nations |
More hotels with awesome cars out the front... Definitely how the other half live.
We had plans to go back to Antibes for dinner but after a cocktail in the waterfront bar in Cannes we were tired and decided to hit the hay. Our missioning around in the Alps had caught up with us.
Oh no, I forgot i left my Lamborghini here in this carpark - Another decision to make... maybe I could use this one for grocery shopping. |
Sex on the Beach - oh whoops wrong photo... haha no Happy hour cocktails Sex on the Beach and Blue Hawaiian! |
