This morning with Le Tour having moved on to Grenoble we decided to have an adventure of our own going white water rafting with Pirafting at Briancon. We were picked up by Nico and Irvan and driven to Villeneuve to kit up and get onto the river. It was really great because there were only 2 of us plus the guide.
Me all ready to go |

The rafting when for 2 -21/2 hours and we even got to swim down 1 rapid toward the end just for fun – they are a lot bigger when you are in the water!
After our little swim |
After we dried off we made for L’Alpe D’Huez to see if we could check the climb out in the car. Unfortunately the tours individual time-trial based in Grenoble made its way out to Bourg d’Oisans at the foot of L’Alpe D’Huez meaning that while the mountain road was open, the road to it was closed – Bummer.
We had to head off south toward Digne les Bains. I decided that I wanted a go at driving so drove the descent from the Serre Chevalier back along the other side of Lac du Poncon to Digne.
Some of the scenery on the drive to Digne |
We arrived and had no internet so were unable to check what happened in the time-trial and whether our efforts over the last 5 days supporting Cadel had paid off. Turns out we had missed the texts telling us Cadel had WON! Amazing to have been part of his victory after 2 second places.
Definitely proud Aussies – will keep Mulder’s Aussie flag flying on the dashboard.

NB. More rafting photos hopefully to come from the rafting guys - just waiting for them to send them through, had hoped they would be here by now but seems not :(
