We set off from Barcelona on our journey back north towards France. We had planned for 1 more night somewhere along the coast en-route to Perpignon in France.
The only place we could find in our camping book was one called Begur – so we thought “that’ll do.”
When we arrived we discovered a beautiful little gem on the Costa Brava. We checked into an amazing campground El Maset, situated on the terraced cliff face overlooking the bay and rushed down to check out the little bay’s beach.

The sand here is like pebble-crete – minus the concrete. It has its benefits such as not getting everywhere like Aussie sand seems to, but is not quite so comfortable to lay on – especially minus a beach towel as Dave discovered.

The campsite provided a lovely shady place to sleep and allowed us the benefit of a sleep in as we didn’t wake up in a lather of sweat from the morning sun.
The rest of the days we spent walking the terraced cliff footpaths and discovering yet another nudist beach We are beginning to think clothed beaches are more of a novelty here as most beaches in Spain sport topless if not nude people everywhere. Imagine laying on the beach with your mum and dad! Puts a whole new spin on the family holiday, that’s for sure.
We chose a little more demure option and decided to chill (fully clothed) for the rest of the afternoon.
We cooked a nice little meal each night and then had a bottle of wine overlooking the beach.
We also met a fellow camper here, a German named Ralf who is a teacher on holidays from Frankfurt. We exchanged details and he has promised us a tour of Mainz and Frankfurt when we pass through Germany.
One last vista of beautiful Begur - We are definately coming back here! |
